It is exactly 100 days before the return of Simon and Caroline from Wallbanger! The Cocktail series is getting three more books and the first one is coming to us on 24 June 2014. Today, I have the great pleasure of sharing with you a little excerpt from Rusty Nailed and an awesome signed giveaway of the first two books in the series… ♥
In this sequel to Wallbanger, fan favorites Caroline Reynolds and Simon Parker negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in Sausalito.
Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on an extended honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy-long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel. And with Simon, her hotshot photographer boyfriend, gallivanting all over the world for his job, the couple is heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. No complaints about the great reunion sex, though!
Then a trip back east to his childhood home has Simon questioning his nomadic lifestyle. He decides to be home more. A lot more. And he wants Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort out their relationship. Sure, more togetherness is a good thing—but does less traveling and working have to mean the other extreme? Apple pie and picket fences? With this second book in the Cocktail series, USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy confection of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up!
I passed by on my way to the kitchen, and was stopped by a hand on my ass.
“Hi,” he answered, his eyes still on the computer.
“You need something?”
“Always,” he answered, maneuvering my ass so it was on his lap.
“Not always, you were sleeping earlier,” I pouted, as he swept a piece of hair behind my ear.
“I’m not sleeping now.”
“I’ve got turnovers.”
“I already like where this is going,” he murmured, his hands tightening around my waist.
“No no, I mean I have turnovers. That I need to put in the oven.”
“Wait, those are like tiny pies, right?”
“Yes Simon, they’re like tiny pies.”
“You know what it does to me when you go Uncle Jesse on me.”
His eyes widened, and something else hardened. “I do indeed.”
Kissed me fierce he did, and while I did my best to remind him of my turnovers, he did his best to make me forget. And I did, until the doorbell rang.
“Dammit,” he muttered, releasing me.
“Saved by the bell,” I sang out, rising off his lap.
“You know what it does when you go Kelly Kapowski on me.”
“I do indeed. And if you’re a good boy tonight I’ll give you my own special Bayside cheer later on.” I winked, and danced away from his grabby hands. “Now go do something with that,” I instructed, pointing at his enthusiasm.
He strutted away.

When Grace Sheridan returns to Los Angeles to become a working actor, it’s a second shot at a life-long dream. With some help from her best friend and agent, that dream could become a reality, but at thirty-three, has Grace missed her chance at the big time? Will an unexpected sizzling romance with the entertainment industry’s newest ‘it’ boy shine an uncomfortable spotlight on her life?
Alice Clayton spins a playful and erotic May to December romance in this, her debut novel. Clayton’s funny, borderline neurotic heroine is perfect in her imperfections, and the off the charts sexual chemistry between her and her charming, yet blissfully unaware leading man are the true heart of The Unidentified Redhead. With laugh out loud dialogue and a super steamy romance that will get your heart racing, sneaking around in L.A. and dodging the Paparazzi has never been so fun.
Don’t you just love when you start reading a book having no expectations whatsoever one way or another and then you discover after reading only 20 pages that this is one of those books you’ll just LOVE forever? This book and its sequel The Redhead Revealed were those books for me.
I was so in love with every page of this story that I didn’t want it to end … ever. Ms Clayton is not just a great storyteller; she creates characters that you wish you knew in real life. Her writing style is so engaging that I found myself highlighting entire paragraphs, pages sometimes, wanting to read them again at a later stage, over and over again. The humour and the romance in this book are so exquisitely intertwined together. The story flows beautifully and naturally and you find yourself giggling like a schoolgirl the whole time.
I don’t want to write about the storyline, really, I feel that anything I would write could not possibly do it justice. I just want to say that Grace is my personal hero and I want to be her. I completely understood her as a character, I loved her wit and personality, but I also felt that her issues of self-esteem and struggle to accept the wonderful reality of what was happening to her were very real and believable. I mean, what woman in her 30s would not want to pinch herself every second of the day if a 24 year old man like Jack was in love with her? And Jack, oh Jack… what can one say about Jack without becoming a blubbering idiot? He is truly Grace’s soul mate, if one were inclined to believe in soul mates. I have never come across two characters, or personalities for that matter, that are so perfectly matched like Crazy and Sweet Nuts. He is her equal in wit, intelligence and ability to love. I simply adored their love story and I will proudly admit that I will re-read parts of this book every time I feel blue and I need something to pick my spirits up.
