Suzy Denton seems to have it all together. She loves her job as an event’s planner for Danvers International, and she loves her high school sweetheart and fiance Jeff.
Fast forward a month and it’s all gone to hell in a hand-basket. She finds out Jeff’s dentist has been doing more than drilling his teeth, and Danvers is in the process of merging with Mericom creating the largest communications company in the US and also bringing Gray Merimon, the CEO of Mericom into her life.
Gray pursues her from almost their first meeting. Even though he looks like sex on a stick, Suzy is afraid of being hurt again, and she thinks Gray is just another stuffed shirt looking for a relationship. When he calls her bluff, Suzy agrees to one night of sex, hoping that he will be terrible in bed and she can finally get him out of her system.
When circumstances throw them together for more than one night, can Gray convince Suzy that two complete opposites can be a perfect fit?

This is the second book in Sydney Landon’s Danvers series and I liked it more than the first one. I think the two main characters were a bit more likeable, their dialogues were a bit more entertaining and the storyline was less predictable. Suzy Denton was a great female character, she was witty, loving, a tough exterior with a warm heart. Her story sort of started in the previous book where she met Gray Merimon, but it all really happened in this one. I am a sucker for sexy males who have no qualms about chasing the woman they are interested in so I was as happy as a clam reading this story. Gray was just delicious – I was melting at his every word.
The one element that this book had and the previous one didn’t was a more believable complicating factor in Suzy and Gray’s relationship. It allowed the characters to show more facets to their personalities and made them a bit more believable. I hate when people just give up on each other or bolt at the first obstacle in their relationship – that is why I liked Suzy’s character so much, she decided to “put her big girl panties on” and fight for Gray.
I am so glad I decided to continue reading this series, even more now that there will be a book 3 because Beth and Nick have to get their story too.
